Hi all! I am a new member and I currently own geese, guineas, and a variety of Rocks and Wyondottes. I live in sunny North Fl with my husband who I have been married to 28yrs. Our kid flew the coup like all babies do so I bought 2 geese and 3 yrs later now own 25 birds. I use geese and my 24 lb Rhode Island red mixed Roo for security. My guineas take care of snakes, thieves and the rest of the bugs on 5 acres . I am so grateful for all of this info collected for us newbies and look forward to sharing my info I have learned!

Here is my first:

I have looked through guinea forums regarding sexing and I do not use that method. My dad said easiest way is to look at them. The female has a more closed slit nostril and the male has a more open nostril. I have used this all of my life and never fails! I know Im new, but it was killing me reading how hard it is to sex them! Lol

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! That's a lovely mixed flock you have there. I only have my chickens at home but there are a couple of Guineas at the farm where I keep the horse and they sure are interesting birds. So pleased to hear you have found BYC so helpful, it sure is a great place for learning.

Hope you enjoy BYC, I'm sure you will. Everyone here to help and very friendly :frow

Hi and welcome to our community - glad to have you hear. I'd suggest that you share your guinea sexing method on the guinea forum as i am sure that the members there would be delighted to read about it.

Best wishes
