I recently got 8 Silkie chicks... We had one Silkie when I was a kid and have always loved them and will always remember my "buttercup". Our chicks are about 10 days old. I finally got the pasty butt under control with hard boiled eggs and yogurt, every night before bed. Now I am having to soak their feet in a bowl with warm water because they poop everywhere and step in it but it's better than cleaning their butts! Any useful info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much

Do you have them on pine shavings, that should help keep them cleaner? Silkies are very difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they lay or crow. They are very popular . Some people say adding a bit of apple cider vinegar to the water prevents pasty butt. If you use that don't put in a metal bowl.
