It's day 25 and I have 7 eggs in the incubator. On day 18 it seemed like 4 of them had babies but I couldn't tell from 3 since they had a very dark shell. Now I see no signs of them hatching. No internal pips or external and I asked my teacher about it. She said to open one up but I don't want to kill a hopefully good chick. I finally said screw it and candles an egg and this is what I saw. Btw I know before that this egg was fertile from previous candles

does anyone know what to do now?

Candle the eggs in complete darkness. Watch for shadowed movement between the air cell and the chick; a sign that the eggs are hatching. If you see no movement look at that line again between the air cell and the chick. If that line look faded and discolored the chicks have died in the shell. If that line looks crisp the chick may be alive. There are many images online that show eggs at different stages of development to compare yours to.

Possibly a silly question, but these eggs are chicken eggs???

A chicken egg at day 25 sounds pretty hopeless, but good luck.

These are from my easter egger hens,so yeah they are chicken eggs. And I'll try the candling in a darker area. I'll find the darkest spot in the house

Okay I will keep em in. I felt like opening one of the dark eggs and dead baby. Gosh I thought I did everything right

Then leave them in the incubator a few days longer; better safe than sorry.  What kind of chickens do you have?

Hmm I just opened the last three. Each dead chick. I have a few Rhode Island reds and 2 Easter egger and 1 barred rock. Soon 6 (hopefully) hens when they get bigger barred rocks. My one rooster is an Easter egger
