We have a broody hen (been broody for nearly a month). We've also been incubating eggs. We made the hen her own private broody pen, put her in there two nights ago, and put 5 fertile eggs under her. All seems well so far, and the eggs are set to hatch tomorrow. We have 28 fertile eggs including the ones we put under her. They are sex linked and we will be getting rid of the cockerels. SO ... assuming there is a 50/50 ratio of pullets and cockerels, we might have 14 pullets by tomorrow evening.

QUESTION: Can our BO handle ALL 14 chicks?

The brooder is already set up. We have 19 1.5 month old chicks in their own secure pen outside and 5 - 2 week old chicks in the brooder box inside along with two poults. Of course it would not be that big of a deal to throw a few more chicks in there, but I am ready for that brooder box to be OUT of my living room!

Thanks!
