Is this even possible, probably not with breeding quality but perhaps with hatchery quality? My DH got me a chick that was supposed to be a Salmon Faverolles pullet since I really wanted a bearded chicken and that was the only option where he went. I looked the chick over and it has five toes and the right markings for its age and right amount of leg feathering but does not have the beard fluffiness. If it matters the chick is one week old. If I can I'll try to post a picture later but I was just curious if this has happened to anyone before, or if perhaps some chicks grow their beard later?

Where did you get it?

it came from a local farm store which gets their birds from a hatchery, although I don't know which one.

so for now that's the best I could get, she is a feisty little bugger that isn't thrilled about being handled yet. I'll try to get something better later today.

Definitely not show quality ... i did wonder if there beards would come later as they are only 5 months old .... they are just weird looking !!!

I doubt they will, you've seen if they're going to have a big beard its pretty obvious early on. I thought maybe it would pop in later as well but nope. Makes the poor girl's head look tiny.:)
