4-day old Buff gosling not eating?

I bought a 4-day old gosling. She follows me everywhere just like the ducklings I hatched did. She cries until I pick her up. When I reach down she hunkers down, stretches her neck out, and says "pee pee pee" very quietly. Is she hungry? How do I get her to eat? At 4 days in the feed store with her hatchlings seems like she should be used to eating. She sure is a cute thing, seems to be very, very smart as well.



She is hard to take a photo of because she won't go away from me.

I had the same thing happen, I called the hatchery and they recommended 1 tbs. Of honey to 1 quart of warm water. Works like an antibiotics of sorts. It should boost them up a little. Although mine was a little worse for the wear, mine wasn't walking much only enough to get a drink . Eventually she did eat.

Last night she enthusiastically ate starter food crumbs which had fallen onto the floor, and today ate some in a small saucer. I haven't seen her eat any from the food in the coup-cup. I tried to take another photo. She is sitting to my right on a small platform that protects the laptop keys. (I use a separate keyboard)





She is absolutely fun. Likes to follow around and even cuddle (my ducks never did that) I'm not sure if it is because she is solo or if it is just her breed. She is supposed to be a saddle back American Buff goose. But I can't find pied Buffs in the internet and the hatchery she is from have buff Pomeranian but don't say anything about saddle back or pied Buffs. I sure with I had instruction about all these gosling postures and noises. I think I understand some, but others are really unlike the ducks ones I am familiar with. The one I think is calling to me she dips her head low like I have seen when geese hiss, runs up to me and makes sure I pick her up. The first night I put her in the Serama's big dog crate to spend the night and she didn't notice them when I put them in (it is too cold to stay outside for a frizzle Serama) One jumped down from the perch and she freaked out, stretching her neck out towards the perch and hissing for all she was worth. It sounded a bit like someone trying to blow out a candle that just wasn't going out, pfff, pfff, pfff, pfff. I about died laughing as I rescued her and figured out someplace else for her to sleep.

Hi -I have 4 goslings, all 9 days old. Delightful creatures. One is Buff and not an aggressive eater, he's also the smallest.
When these guys are older they will be in a pasture and orchard part time and so I am encouraging weed and grass eating. So far they love (chopped up into about 1/4" to 1/2" pieces) of lettuces. They also love washed off grass and weeds broken up into pieces 1-3 " long pieces. They will always eat the fresh stuff over the crumble feed. The chopped lettuce is put in a low dish with a little water and betweem the four of them they will gobble up 4 romaine lettuces leaves in under 5 minutes. You might want to give it a try. Aloha

Yesterday I went to the farm store to see if the Khakis and Cayuga had arrived yet, as I have pre-ordered 2 KC and 1 C females. I will need to go back after they come in to get them. Some hatch-mates of my gosling were there, both some Buffs and some buff Pomeranians. I had thought that perhaps she was the later but after seeing them I am convinced she is a Buff. Anyway, they are half again the size of mine. When I was concerned and asked one of the workers she asked me if mine got to run around. She explained that all those had to do was lay in a pile and eat, so that is why they are bigger. I am still concerned about the size difference but I don't want to lock her up, she wouldn't understand. I have made food available any place I might be sitting so that she can eat as she wants.

UPDATE:

Just thought I might mention that as of 1 August 2016 this goose is a big pig. If I put food out for anyone she's right there honking and flapping to get the first taste - even if it is something she doesn't like. I shouldn't have worried.
