Hi Everyone,
I'm new here and to chickens. I purchased 4 hens last week and I'm working on plans for a run. We've already purchased a coop. I understand, after reading posts here, that we need to use hardware cloth at least on the bottom few feet to keep out predators. I have a couple questions regarding the rest.
Would I be able to attach fencing to the bottom of the run (like the floor) instead of digging a trench and burying the coop? There's a possibility it may be moved in the future and our backyard is VERY hard ground and it would be very difficult to dig a 1-2 ft trench around the coop.
Would I be able to use chicken wire for the top of the run to save money? I currently have a 4ft livestock fence around my entire yard. We have raccoons, skunks and cats in the area. There are very few fox and coyotes around my parts.
Last question, if I were to make the run 4ft tall, how would we clean it?
