So my 3 week old chicks do this silly thing with each other where they kind of hunker down, stick their neck out a little and then jump / flap their wings on to the other chick. Or they will stretch as tall as they can and then jump / flap their wings at the other. Just wondering what they are doing? Dominance or playful? They aren't being mean to each other just makes me laugh.

Those are some adorable chicks! Yes, they're playing. They're practicing the pecking order, but are totally unserious about it. They're like baby goats play head butting each other. Or kittens play biting and clawing each other.

It's babies being frisky and having fun. It's when the hormones start surging around five or six months that things start getting serious.

Thank you! I was wondering if they were getting a little to rough but no one ever seemed hurt just surprised sometimes lol and it is mainly the 4 big ones.

Mine are three weeks old and do the same thing! Anna it's sort of alarming because when one Flys on the other, the one getting landed on always let's out a really loud chirp like it's hurt then goes about their business. They sure are cute aren't they!! ♡♡♡
