Hi everyone! Our family is new to Backyard chickens! We recently built our goats a new barn and instead of tearing their old setup down we would love to convert it into chicken coops. I wanted to know from true "chicken people"

What works, what dosent, and how we should design everything inside. Another factor that probably will make a difference is they sadly will not be able to free range at all, due to neighborhood dogs

So I want to try and make their coop a nice home with lots of things to keep them comfortable and happy. I will add pictures shortly of what we have to work with. Thanks!

You don't have to free range, but it would be good to provide an enclosed run for them of appropriate size. General guide is 10 square feet of run per chicken. A 10 x 10 run is good for 10 chickens or less. There is plenty of information available about coops at top of page link. There is also a thread with over 1 million views,(not posts) here.

If you are not able to have a secure run for your chickens then they will be similar to battery hens at the corporate farms. Try your best with what is available to you.
WISHING YOU BEST and
