Hello. Happy to be here. My kids and I picked up some fresh eggs from a friend about a month ago. My 12 year old daughter wanted to see if she could hatch one of the eggs. She chose 2 eggs and put them in a small plastic container with a $10 lamp and a wet washcloth. To my surprise (but not my daughters) 24 days later my kids were ecstatic to hear chirps coming from one of the eggs. Twelve hours later we had a baby chick (the other egg was not fertilized). We plan to raise her as a house pet. We have no other pets (but I have had cats, cockatiels, and greyhounds in the past). We are overjoyed with our new addition to our family.
