Day 21 chicks not hatching? - Page 2

Hi,

I have had quail pip before and then take another 24 hours to hatch. Never had it with chickens, but when I have hatched chickens before they have been hatched under a broody hen. Currently I have 6 Jersey Giant eggs in the incubator. I think this is probably nothing to worry about. As long as you can still hear it pipping inside the egg and chirping. If it still hasn't hatched in another few hours, you could try carefully peeling some of the shell back without damaging the membrane to help it.

I hope this helps.

I had two hatches fail before this one. One was with a broody hen that got unbroody and stoped sitting on them a few days before they hatched. Second time i used a 20 year old incubator( mistake) i put four in 3 had nothing in them and got rotten and contaminated the incubator the 4th one i really dont know what happened it didn't hatch. I waited a couple days after it was due and cracked there was a chick in there that looked like it had quit at day 18 sad.png
