Hi!

Looking forward to chatting chicken!

This is our first time with chickens. We are used to a brood, but of the human variety. We have six children, ages 7, 5, 4, 3, 3, 2. We were studying galliformes this week (we homeschool), so it was the perfect week to add chickens!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Wow that is quite a brood you have there! One was enough for me!
I'm sure your children will really enjoy raising chickens, they are fantastic for getting the whole family involved. Do you have ideas on what breeds you will be starting out with?

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

We have 3 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Cornish Cross, 1 Easter Egger, 1 Buff Orpington and 1 Black Australorp.

Do you have to post a certain amount of times before adding pictures?

That's what I figured. Let them enjoy life for a couple of months, and then eat them before they get miserable. Our chickens will be free ranging in the backyard and I'll throw out feed too, but I won't really be able to specifically limit their diet while also throwing out feed for the others.
