So my problem is: I have one female mandarin duck (white color) which is two years old now and she doesn't lay any eggs till now... she is mating with the male, is checking the nesting boxes but nothing last year, nothing this year... One of my friends have the exact same problem with a female wood duck. We both buy the ducks from the same person which has also buy them from a renowned breeder from Hungary.
And now I asking, is that a calcium problem or it is possible that the breeder who raise them have done something to this ducks so they can't reproduce anymore ?

Here is a photo of her.

How much sunlight are they getting? Are they contained or free range? What are you feeding them? To my knowledge there is no way for a breeder to stop a bird from laying an egg, and it would really decrease the value of the bird if they did, many enjoy using duck eggs in baking.

That doesn't mean it's a hen.If there are 2 males,1 will dominate the other and try to breed.

Yup! I dont have ducks but I have seen it in Bobwhites.... and enhancing Tony's comment, there were females hanging out near by and hoping they would turn a kind eye to them... But I do belive they were Gay BobWhites, this is the year 2018 ya know!:th
