Hi All,
Our hen was feeling lethargic for a few days. We kept her hydrated, and watched her. We initially though she may have been egg bound, with a soft shell or hard shell. WE bathed her a few times in warm water thinking this would expel what we thought was stuck, but no go. After we brought her in to dry off her feathers, still no improvement. I called our local Bird & Animal Hospital, and brought Tilly in. After the vet took a look at her, he determined that she was NOT egg bound but had a bad inner infection. Luckly we were able to give him a feces sample, which the results returned NO parasites. Thank goodness.
The Vet prescribed her antibiotic pills. So, $132.00 later our girl is feeling so much better. Back out scratching, and eating bugs, and such a transformation from this lifeless bird we once had. Some people thought I was nuts taking a chicken to the vets office, however in my world, are pets are people too! Horse, Cat, Dog, Chicken who cares...she's a pet, we love her, and she loves us. Thought I would share. Thank you for all your posts you all have helped us out so many times! Best, Leo's Poultry Farm.
