Pretty sure it's mites. How to treat???

So I've attached pics of my polish hen. She only has the issue on the top of her head. Rest of body is perfectly normal. I've applied DE to coop and some of the yard, cleaned coop, and on her head. I then purchased a powder (can't think of name...will look it up but it says it takes care of chicken mites) it's been over a month now and she looks worse. Also to note, I had a young goat that was infested with these things also. He didn't make it but what else can I do?
 
Poultry dust would most likely be your best course of treatment. Since the nits (eggs) will hatch out about every 7days, you will need to repeat application again in 7days. Then check, if you need to, repeat again.

IMO DE is not effective once there is an infestation, so you will need to clean out the coop and apply either poultry dust or something similar, you may have to repeat this as well in 7days.

Should I wash her head or anything? To get some of the gunk off? I used gard star chicken and garden dust

It probably won't hurt to try to wash her head. Maybe use a little dish liquid like Original Dawn or Ivory.
A couple of days after you apply the poultry dust, you could also try applying some coconut or vegetable oil to the feather shafts (down near the skin) to help loosen, dissolve/smother some of the gunk/debris/nits that you are seeing. Then repeat in 7 days.
Even though it looks like the concentration of infestation is on her head you may want to put the poultry dust under her wings and tail/vent area as well.
