Tacking up hardware cloth really isn't any more difficult than nailing up a board. Cut the hardware cloth so it overlaps the opening by a couple of inches, get large U-shaped staples and pound them in with a hammer. I'm... well... not real mechanically inclined (as in, when I start looking for tools for an idea or project, my husband goes into a mild panic) and even I can put hardware cloth over openings in my chicken coop. They do need ventilation. My building skills are not that good.
Wishing right now I could make new houses for them!!
Might be easier
Not sure how I will protect the ducks.
