Hello,

I am trying this again...My first post did not save for some reason. I am a special education teacher in NC. I teach 9 wonderful boys diagnosed with autism. We hatched chickens in the class about 6 weeks ago and are waiting on our second batch to hatch in a week. I am hoping to take our first 2 home, providing they are hens.

It sounds absolutely wonderful, hatching chicks with the children

Congratulations on first time hatch. You'll learn all the tricks and special needs your incubator needs before long and see those hatch rates sore. If you click on the forum for incubating and hatching at top of page is links to informative stickies that may give you some pointers. Biggest thing is don't have too high of RH while incubating then put over 70% last two or three days. I like 30% RH for incubating.
