The person i bought my six keets from told me that I would need to put a light in their coop or else they would roost in the trees. Is that true?

I had to. The guineas stay out much later than the chickens, and what was happening was that by the time the guineas were ready to call it a night it was really dark in the coop (since inside the coop is darker than outside) so they didn't want to go in. they couldn't see well enough to go up to the roosts, whereas outside they could see to go up in the trees. So I bought a cheap solar powered light and I keep the panel pointed sort of down so it only charges halfway, and it is pointed toward the wall. This keeps it from being too bright and keeps it from charging enough to stay on all night.
