What to expect in lockdown

Hi! First time incubator hatcher here.
Yesterday was day 18 and I started lockdown. Last night the eggs were rocking and pecking. Nothing today as far as i can tell. Is this normal? Anything i should do or check?
Temp is 100 on top of the eggs. Hovabator 1602N, 2 chambers filled with water.

It's normal to see them rocking around day 17/18 as they position themselves, (head under wing, beak up) for hatch. Usually after the initial rocking you won't see anything until they start their pipping.

Nothing to check as long as temps and humidity is good. Good luck!
 
Phew! Thank you! Another question...for next time...do you leave your thermometer on top of the eggs during lockdown? I took mine off, but have a thermometer that has a sensor on the floor. I figure as long as this temp remains the same as it was when the one on top of the eggs read 100, it should be remaining constant? Any thoights for me? Thanks!

I have a fan forced, so my thermometers sit on the screen the entire time, but yes, for hatch it'll be fine. For still air it is recommended to monitor the temps with a goal of 101-102 at the top of the eggs because the air in a still air is layered whereas forced air is supposed to be more even because the air is circulated. Many people actually adjust down a temp or so at lockdown anyway, so 100 is fine.
 
Great info! Thank you! All 4 of mine hatched and are doing well. While i waited for the to chicks to dry, they seemed like maybe they were too warm? They were all at the sides of the incubator like chicks do in a brooder that is too warm. Is that possible? Thanks!
