To find out the age of the chicks in a feed store, ask the manager when they were received. Chicks are shipped the day they hatch, so allowing for transit through the postal system, the chicks usually arrive withing one or two days.
However, not all chicks are sold the first day or two they are on the floor in the tanks. Some end up lingering and may even be mixed in with a later shipment of younger chicks.
