This rooster has very recently found himself a new home with me after surviving a predator attack that took him from his previous home. His owners did track me down and came to take him home a few days ago but when they arrived to collect him, to my delight, decided he could stay here. They adopted him from a local animal shelter a couple of years ago after he'd been picked up as a stray in a town about 30 miles from here so they had no history on him or any idea of his breed.

3rd day in isolation after expanding his run
To me, he's looking like a Marans or at least a Marans mix - that's my best guess anyway. His barring is dark brown and his previous keepers said most of his tail feathers are missing but when his tail is full, it makes him look nearly twice the size he does now and some of his sickle feathers are that gorgeous dark beetle green.
I'd love to know what breed others think he may be.
