I just noticed that my nearly 8 week old Barred Rock pullet has a twisted toe

My little bird doesn't seem to be impeded or in any discomfort, but I alarmingly noticed today that her outermost toe on her right foot is crooked, to the point that she is walking on the side of that toe. I'm not sure if she's had this propensity before, I only quite alarmingly noticed it today. She's going on 8 weeks old. I picked her up and was looking at it, tried to gently get it to 'straighten out' and it wouldn't - almost like someone who has arthritis when their joint curves. She didn't flinch when I tried, she was OK with me touching and moving it (I was gentle), I could just tell it wasn't going to go that way. Almost seems like it was "growing" that way, but for some crazy reason I didn't notice it till now. I don't know how! Anyhow, she doesn't seem bothered by it. Walks normal, no limp, doesn't pull it away like it is sensitive when I pick her up and touch/move it. But I am concerned about why she has this and what it could mean for her having future foot health issues. Have you all seen this and do you have experience/advice? Thank you so much for your help! :)

Hi,

I don't know if you can see clearly from this picture but my Ancona (speckled one) pullet also has crooked toes. We failed to notice this when we bought her so i don't know how long she had it. I presume it is a birth defect but i could be wrong. It doesn't seem to bother her so we just leave it. Hope this helps.

Thank you! Yes that helps. My concern was if she'd be able to walk around normally, I don't want her to suffer. Of course I will keep a watch on her toes. I am relieved to know that she can walk around normal and be OK, so Thank You!!
