Baby chicks in the summer heat

I have as well. Survival rate averages better per chick hatched with single hen. The average is based on watching many broods reared up. Direct observation of conflict makes evident where threats to chicks arise even though chicks not targeted.

I just picked up my new chicks and the weather is 98F during the day, but goes down to 60F at night. I am not using a heat lamp at all, however I do have an electric brooder for them just in case. At night they go under, but during the day they are out playing. The coop is under a tree, so is shaded during the hot hours. I do keep their drinking water cold with the hydration package. They seem happy.:)
