I got tired of using a rubber traffic cone to process my birds, and I didn't want to spend the $50 on cones from the hatcheries, so I found a plan for making them out of sheet metal. I'm selling them on eBay for the fixed price of $17.99 plus shipping. They hold 8 week old Cornish X's, or just about any other bird just fine.

Check my sig for the link to the sale page!

These are for securing the birds for processing. If you go to the eBay link you'll see a picture (warning: it's graphic, if you're sensitive) They fit upside-down with their heads sticking out the bottom. The cone holds them snugly so they don't flap or thrash around after their veins are cut. Then they can bleed out neatly and the meat isn't bruised. It makes the job easier for the processor, and in turn, makes a more quick & humane end for the bird.

I think these look nifty, I wish you great success with your e-business! One thing I'm wondering is if that particle board you've got them attatched to is going to be sturdy enough for the long run. I think it might degrade with the weather & repeated washings by the hose. Then again, it's cheap enough to replace when needed.

Well, the bird goes in headfirst. Its head sticks out the bottom. This makes it much easier for butchering, as the bird bleeds out quickly, and doesn't struggle.

Good explanation! Yeah, the particle board was a last minute thing. It got to be processing day, and I had a million other things to get ready, and I wasn't sure how I wanted to mount them, so I ended up doing that temporarily. It worked pretty well, and I don't leave it outside, so I might just keep them on there, unless I think of something drastically better.

how much is shipping? I have never processed a bird, but if I had something nice like that already hanging up... well, if some roo just flogs me on the wrong day or something... it'd be a lot easier to show him the pearly gates.
