Hey Everyone! I bought a trio of hatchery delawares a few months back with the idea of good pets and eggs. Well someone approach me recently and is wanting some of my birds chicks and I agreed to it because I wanted to see what their chick turned out to look like. Well the 11 chicks hatched and 10 of them are prefect little delaware babies but 1 chick looks like a delaware but it has a red tint to it. Is this normal for delawares? Is this a red delaware? I looked up rir chicks and new Hampshire chicks and this chick doesn't look like either one. I have tried asking other delaware breeders and everyone is scratching their heads on where this chick even came from so I thought I would come here and see if anyone else has dealt with this. Thank you.

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!

I agree with the other posters. Is there any chance a different rooster paid a surprise visit to your hen?
No I am the only one with chickens on the block. Plus because of a bad neighbor, my chickens are behind a privacy fence and are locked up really tight at night. There is no way another rooster could have gotten to my hen. I wish it was that easy. Thanks for the link. I will try there. Thank you for such a warm welcome.
