Hello,
I have a coturnix quail that needs help hatching. It pipped on Sunday afternoon, on day 18, and now it is Tuesday morning, day 20. It has been over 24 hours since it pipped. The chick is still alive and its chirps sound more frantic. I am afraid it may be dried out in the egg and I am aware that in helping it, it could bleed and die. What should I do to help it? Thank you in advance!

Update, I helped it out, and I think it will be fine. What is strange is that it came out the wrong end, and the air sac was never broken. Is this common?

How is the little one doing now? Malpositions and pipping at the wrong end of the egg does happen and is usually as result of incorrect position and/or turning of the eggs during incubation and incorrect humidity.

It's doing well, thank you. But it is about 2/3 the size of what it should be right now. Otherwise it is happy and healthy
