Hey board! Some of my buff orpingtons just started laying, and I tried to introduce them to their nesting boxes, but they dig out the plastic easter eggs, and also real eggs. They fish them out of the nest.

It has only been one day, but the last time I did this, my hens were more compliant.

Any advice.. :)

New layers tend to be vigorous in the nestboxes. Fill your plastic eggs with sand or rocks to weigh them down, and perhaps increase the height of the lip on your boxes so it's harder to scratch stuff out. They usually calm down after a few weeks and don't dig as much. They are taking their job very seriously.
