Hello there. I've never kept chickens. Really just recently even got an interest in it. But I've always been sort of a "survivalist" or "prepper" and looking to increase our family's sustainability. The place we are at now isn't really in town but it's still built up like a subdivision. Our lot is 3/4 of an acre. I figure I can build a nice coop and a decent sized run in the back yard which is at least a half acre. Our 3 kids (and the dog) eat eggs and chicken like they are going out of style, so I figure having a little flock could only be a good thing.
Found this forum and had to join up. I never do anything half way, and since getting on the internet about 15 years ago I've learned the very best way to learn about ANYTHING is to join an online forum and learn from others who have done it.
