Hey yalls
I live in North Carolina on the beach. What would be the best friendly laying hens to have? Love to here all a opinions

Take a look at the breed reviews...and look thru forums on friendly breeds. A lot depends on how you raise them.
I like barred rocks and australorps best ....my grand daughter has a black sex link that is super tolerant of handling by a 4 yr old. These are all good egg producers.

Greetings from Kansas and :welcome. Pleased you joined us. You will get many opinions as to which hens are the friendliest. I have my favorites when it comes to easy going and friendly...Red Stars, Speckled Sussex, Delaware, Black Australorps, and most recently, Naked Necks. I select them for disposition and egg laying ability. Some people say Silkies are super friendly but I've never owned them so I can't speak to that. While certain breeds are just nervous and flighty by nature, so much is how you treat them and how much time you spend with them. Here's a PDF that charts various chicken attributes, including disposition. http://www.artistmelody.com/images/Breeds-Alpha.pdf
Good luck to you!

Hello and welcome 3spoileddogs,
They really do have personalities, no two hens are alike even if they are the same breed. One of my easter eggers is a sweetie, the other is a flat-out spaz and mean to the other birds to boot. Many people swear by australorps and while mine lay great they aren't fans of any kind of handling. Strangely, in my flock the production reds seek out people and love to be petted while my orpington, which I got because "they are so friendly" is the most aloof. Of the breeds I have, I'd say red sex links, production reds and speckled sussex to be friendliest, while barred rock, wyandotte and australorp less so....your results may vary!
Wishing you the best of luck !
