Hello, here's one of our stories about 2 of our chickens.

At 2 weeks old, one of our buffs had a very weird case of straddled legs and a mix of other leg complications. We decided to quarantine this chick due to the fact it was in obvious pain and was getting stepped on by the others. She would sleep for most of the day, and required assistance getting to water and food.

She would chirp so loud as if in pain, (even though she was) we couldn't figure out the problem. We tried everything to help her.

We finally realized she wanted a buddy because she was all alone. She pretty much refused to eat and drink for this reason. We finally did realize and we added one of our barred rocks to keep her company. About 3-4 weeks later, she was able to get up to eat and drink, so we moved her back with the others.

The barred rock and the buff had a huge friendship. I was surprised. Every time another chick would go near the buff while she was eating or drinking, the barred rock shoved the other ones out of the way to make sure the one buff would get the food and water she needed.

Fast forward 2 months.

Every time we would bring them outside, they would always need to be next to each other. When we needed to collect them and put them back inside the brooder, they would chirp and get really mad and nervous if they weren't with each other/near each other.

Fast forward another 2 months, present time.

Here they are sitting next to each other.

Well, that's it for the 'story,' not really anything too exciting but figured I would share. Thanks :D

It is always interesting to watch relationships in animal circles develop. Your two have a bond that will last their lifetime. Thanks for sharing their story, it made me smile.
