Help! My girl Houdini has been hunching over and sitting down like a person on and off for several months but it's gotten worse in the last couple of weeks. She also has rattly/weeezy breathing. I took her to the vet and he was unsure. Maybe a lung infection so gave her a pain injection, spot-on for leg mites and antibiotics. She is no better, infact a bit worse. Her comb is bright red, eyes are clear and open and she's eating and drinking ok. She doesn't want to stand for too long and droops her wings down (balance?). Poo is normal. Just today her feathers on her back look ratty as if she isn't preening herself. Plus the dreaded rooster keeps mounting her when we're not looking. Kids have thrown a few grapefruit in his direction!

She's a Creole Wyandotte around 5-6 years old. It's spring here in New Zealand so not too hot or cold. Thanks for any help

Welcome to BYC. She may be suffering from an internal laying or egg yolk peritonitis problem. E.coli from EYP can spread all through the body and to the air sacs which would also cause respiratory problems. There is not much that can be done if that is what is wrong, but keep the chicken comfortable until time to put her out of her misery. Here are 2 links about this:
