Anyone have multi level runs?

I was wondering if anyone has every had multiple levels in the run? My birds are still chicks but I built a 17x17 run attached to the coop and trying to think of ways to add shed for next summer and thought of possible building some sort of table type set up on the run. With either the dust bathing spots on top or the enclosed first with seeds under the wire that people do for them to have constant grass. I was thinking a second level in part of the coop could add square footage, enrichment and shade but can't seem to find any pics of anything like I'm thinking.
 
Nothing like as elaborate as you describe, but its a common way for peeps in my neck of the woods to keep lots of chickens in a small space. Maybe google "multi-storey chicken coops" or something like that - you may find something.

Not sure you'd want a 'second story' to your run......
.....it would be hard to get in there and move around unless the whole thing is like 12-16 feet tall.

You can put lots of things in there for 'enrichment'...roosts, pallets on concrete blocks for shade, stump,logs, grazing frames, old step ladders, chairs, tables, etc...use your imagination.

Do you have a pic of your run as it is now?

Yeah I was thinking more along one wall maybe something like 3 or 4 feet wide and 8-10 long. I was picturing a raised table of some sort with a ramp that they can go up and forage and have under for shade but I was trying to think of ways to make it so I can have stuff growing in the top or sand/ dust bathing that drains well underneath. Idk I'm just brain storming.

Nice big run!
You could throw some shade cloths up top for summer shade.
I'd keep a very close eye on the netting on top with any snow load you might get.

First thing I'd do there, unless that's an old pic and it's too late, is make a few grazing frames to throw over what grass is left.

1/2" hardware cloth for grass-like leaved plants(sod and grains)
1 x 2" fencing for larger leaved plants.
When fresh planting seed I stack a second frame on top until roots are established or they pull the whole plant out.

I like the one at the top best and am converting the others over.
Ripped a half inch off the 2x4's and used it to cover mesh edges to avoid cut feet and subsequent infection (bumblefoot).

I like your thinking!

Our run is 8' tall, which seemed plenty tall enough for me to add some boards along the perimeter to allow the chickens to have another area to run around on and use, especially during winter. However, they were higher up than the door to their henhouse, so when night came, they all preferred roosting out on the boards instead of going in the coop!

Since then, I lowered the boards to about waist-height. They like jumping up there to get a look around, and to see us when we come over, but now they go inside the coop at night.
