URGENT! HELP NEEDED for my DOE

My Doe, Holland Lop named precious, went into labor this morning. She was in her nesting box having contractions when she jumped around and I saw a kit hanging and stuck. I left the room to give her privacy and went back in minutes later. After helping her pull the kit out she never went back into labor. I knew she had more inside b/c I could feel them. I took her to the vet for a sonogram and they found 3 more inside her uterus. They said the heads were too big for her pelvis. They tried to induce her and nothing happened. They quoted me $800 for an emergency c-section, but I can't afford this cost. Can someone help me? Is precious going to be ok and somehow pass the additional kits? Thank you!

You may just have to pay for the c-section. It sucks, but is your best option on such short notice. You could try finding a cheaper vet. But if she is not helped soon, you will lose her and her kits. NEVER breed her with the same buck again. The buck was probably bigger than her, causing the kits to be huge.

If your can't afford the C-section "I totally understand why, $800!!". You'll have to have her put down. Sorry, but that's how it goes with animals.

This is probably too late for you. If the goat can't have the kids the goat can't have the kids. Without a C section, either the kids or the doe or both are going to die depending on what you do and when you do it. None of the alternatives I mention are for the faint of heart. You can cut the kids up and remove them in pieces. That way you sacrifice the kids but might be able to save the doe. Or you can do an emergency field C section which will save the kids if they are still alive, but you have to sacrifice the doe. I have done it. It isn't pleasant, it is not for the squeamish or faint of heart but it can be done and if the kids are still alive you will have live babies to comfort you and compensate you for the loss of the doe. This is how you go about it. You lay the doe on her side, and shoot her in the head to kill her. You immediately take a large sharp knife and cut through skin on the abdomen. If memory serves, I cut on the right side. I kept the blade up so I didn't accidentally cut the kids. I slid the knife under the hide, cut, and then felt around inside until I could feel the kids and the uterus. I cut into the uterus, with the blade up, grabbed a kid, quickly wiped off the mucus off the nose with a pinching motion, gave that kid a fling and went after the next. You have about 5 minutes after shooting the doe to get the kids out and by working quickly you can get them all out in a lot less time than that. If you do nothing, the kids and the mother will all die. Sorry.

That will teach me to read more carefully before I open my mouth or hit the keyboard. All I saw was "doe" and $800. Never occurred to me it was a rabbit. Mea culpa. Lesson learned. I hope.

Yup. It gets hard to distinguish when both goat and rabbit females are called "does".
