I run a chicken rescue in St Louis. I was contacted by a person in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania about a rooster that has been running around for 3 years and now needs to be caught and rehomed. The rooster is cute and friendly. If anybody has a way to assist me in Catching this rooster in Pittsburgh and giving him a new home so he doesn't have to struggle for food please contact me ASAP. The people in the neighborhood have been thinking about killing him and I do not want to see this happen.

I don't understand people. This roo has been living free range in their neighborhood for over 3 years and now suddenly it's a problem? Chickens are good at foraging for food, they eat bugs, mice, baby rats, snakes, ticks, flies and anything else that is too slow to escape their hungry beaks.

If he is scratching up flower gardens, they have a bug/weed problem that he is fixing.
If he poops on the grass, so do their dogs. And dog poop is far worse than chicken poop. Besides, chicken poop is good fertilizer.
If he is crowing at night/before daybreak, they are either too noisy as they leave for work, or they have a predator/prowler problem he is fixing. Maybe they need to go to sleep earlier at night and get up earlier in the morning and be more quiet about it.
People are just too sanitized and commercialized to poisons to appreciate free pest/weed control & free fertilizer that comes in a beautiful package. What they need is to get him a hen. Sorry that I live several states away.

I feel the same as exact way Captain Cluck on this matter, 3 years and all sudden he has to go. Err. I would love to take him in for I have a small chicken/duck ranch, but I'm located in Northwest Indiana.
