I'm looking for ideas for two turkey nest boxes.

I have two Burbon Red hens and two Toms. All four were hatched in March 2016. Im not completely sure but i suspect the hens are getting ready to lay, because I had to seperate the toms due to some pretty serious agression twords each other. One of the toms will become thankgiving dinner, the other one will remain with the two hens. Even if the hens hold off laying their cluthes until Jan of Feb of 2017, i still need to build them nest boxes.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated, pics are best :)

Thanks

I'm going to try to get out and take pictures tomorrow (hopefully, we'll get some sun here tomorrow

). I have two turkey nest boxes, which are situated under the chicken boxes. The turkey boxes are two feet wide by eighteen inches tall, by one foot deep. They've got plenty of room. I have a broody White Holland in one (not getting my hopes up on her eggs; the tom really sucks at mating as yet). I fill them a few inches deep with wood chips.

Leaning a pallet or wide board against a wall is the easiest way to create a desirable turkey nesting area.

Sweetie the Holland hen has plenty of room in the 2x1.5x1 ft nest box, which takes up a lot less space than a pallet (didn't have the luxury). She's broody and two of the eggs look to be fertile, so we'll see. I made curtains from old feed bags and stapled them to the other side--and that drastically improved everyone's willingness to use the nest boxes. Top eight nestboxes are for chickens and are lined with dish tubs.

I have plenty of space i'm thinking of building two of something thats 2'x 2' x 2' with a slanted 45 degree roof to shed water.

Do you all think that'll be enough room for two large burbon red hens?

I have my fingers crossed hoping the hens will sit and hatch some chicks eaely this spring.

I do believe my BR turkey hens are beginning to nest. I piled up a bunch of hay under their house. Both of them have been under there scratching and digging out holes in the hay. Both are also making weird noises and being submissive to the tom.

My question is... Being only the beginning of January isn't this a little early to start brooding? Turkeys are 100℅ outside, no supplemental heat. Live in southern IL. Maybe a early spring? Thanks for your response
