My hen has started twisting her head. She is a little over a year, and nothing in her environment has changed. Thoughts?

My silkie did this. It was so bad, he couldn't eat. I hand fed him, I'm a PT:OT student so I treated his muscular strength and massages. He was a baby at the time, he over came it and now has quite the

I have dealt with wry neck thats why i know.

Wry neck is a vitamin e deficiency and selenium.Your chicken could of been lacking vitamin e and selenium.

I would go to the store and pick up vitamin e tablets she will need 400iu two times a day

Selenium is very toxic so don't overdose but give her 25mcg a day

You can also give her a vitamin b tablet. Its really hard to overdose a chicken with vitamin b.

Make her as stress free as possible or it may get worse.

Again she might no have vitamin e but better be sure.I try ed looking at other post and they leaned to wry neck too.If i didn't explain it well here is a link

What causes it, and anything I can do to fix it or prevent it from getting worse?

There is congenital Torticollis and acquired Torticollis. Gobbles had acquired Torticollis and I chalked it up to an infection. Treated him with a broad spectrum antibiotic. Lots of massage for his hypertonic neck muscles. I've never had chickens and no vet would see him. So instead of letting my uncle perform a cervical dislocation, I figured I'd treat him like I would on of my patients lol. I've read they usually do well if treated, hydrated, and well fed.

The faster you treat the less she will have it massaging the neck will help but vitamin e and selenium is the main treatment.
