ENDED - WINNERS ANNOUNCED - Official BYC Mini Contest #8 - Family & Fowl Photo Contest - Page 15

Here's a picture of my oldest son a year or two ago with his best friend. I believe he was a little under two in this shot. He loved that hen. She'd follow him and around and play with him but not let him catch her. One day I turned my back and he caught her and was attempting to carry her back to the house. This is his, "so you really think I'm going to put her down?" face. She wiggled loose shortly after this picture was taken (hey, he only weighed a little more than twice what she did at the time, he's working hard). They were friends until this spring when my son suddenly decided to be scared of everything but the ducks who are terrified of him. I guess he finally figured out that chickens didn't just come to the sunflower seed picnics he used to throw just to keep him company and they really just wanted his food as fair weather friends do. Red Chicken was so disappointed. No more snacks from toddlers. They had a good year of lots of cute fun while it lasted though. In case anyone's wondering, no hens were harmed in the making of this picture, lol. She's just trying to lean away (and she's still running around my chicken yard at time of typing).

Thanks! I really wish her face were visible too, but what you can't see is that she's less than a foot off the ground, so looking up wasn't going to happen like when a taller adult holds them. They were quite a pair.

You have no idea. We had major tantrums that fall when we wouldn't let him try to do this to the wild geese.

Such great photos here! Love all of them!

I have to toss a couple in here; Hannah and Sammi and our Royal Palm hen, Wee smile.png

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. And I couldn't decide on the second one, but here is a good one of Hannah picking the goodies out if the grain... And that would be Big Bird when he was a cockerel big_smile.png
