Best litter

x2! It's inexpensive, easy to manage, and works great for the birds. Some hay, straw, or other stuff can be added, and clean-out once to three times annually, making wonderful garden compost. Mine comes from the local farm stores; it's available everywhere. Mary

I buy the pine shavings from Wally world.
I only need to clean my small 4X8 coop about every 3 weeks.
I have 8 birds and they have a decent size run.
Cost of the pine shavings is roughly $4.50 a month or a little less for my size coop.

I use hay. Clean it out every 6 months. I just cleaned it out last weekend, and got 10 heaping wheel barrow loads of dirt for the garden.Hay in, dirt out. Great stuff for the garden!

I buy pine shavings from the farm supply store. I can buy them cheaper there then anywhere else. I'm still trying to decide if I like the medium shavings or if I will move to the smaller shavings.

Large flake pine shavings over vinyl.
But I have poop boards under roosts that get sifted out every other day.
Changed out 1-2 times a year, thrown into run.....wood doesn't break down fast enough to put in garden IMO.
