Pecking to scalp

We put a second set of birds in with our others. We came home to find one gen that had been pecked badly. Her entire scalp is to the skull, 1 eye missing from what I can tell, and it goes down far back of her neck. I cleaned her and used neosporin and isolated her. Today the scalp is puss looking. What should we do? Can she survive

sorry for the circumstances. Birds can survive such scalpings, but with one eye missing she will remain a target for attacks her entire life. Keep applying antibiotic ointment and she will gradually heal. Such wounds take time to heal as they heal from the 'outside in.'

Welcome. Sometimes the eye may be hidden from the swelling, but if the eye is intact, there still could be blindness. I would cage her with food and water right in front of her, keep her near the others, and try fencing off the new ones for a week or so while they get used to each other. Normally, it helps to quarantine new chickens for a month, to make sure they do not have any sickness that can be passed on to your healthy flock. Good luck.
 
Thanks for the response. We do have her quarantine in her own little are. I wash the area and apply neosporin nightly. She is drinking with probio and electrolytes in water. Not sure she is eating. She gets excited when she hears me talk to her. She can now stand and walking. It's healing nicely but they really did a number in that baby. Praying she continues to do better. When can I reintroduce her to maybe 1 of her group she grew up with. Just breaks my heart. I love her

You might try her for supervised visits, to see how they react, or place her in a little cage with them inside the coop. Dog crates make good cages, and place her own food and water in there.
