Just got a new rooster for my ladies and he looks like he might have scaly leg mites. I've confined him before introducing him to my girls because they're all in great health and I'm concerned about bringing in mites, which are- from what I've heard, hard to get rid of. Can anyone verify that he has mites from these pictures?

what would you do? Cull or care?

That looks like scaly leg mites to me. I personally wouldn't cull him over that. it's a bit of a pain to treat, but they really aren't that serious in most cases with treatment. Definitely check him for lice & mites on his body, as those can be more serious, but still very treatable. He may still be carrying other diseases that you can't see that you might want to be concerned about, which is always a risk when introducing new birds.

Just let us know if you need help finding info on how to treat those leg mites. Best of luck with your new rooster!
