I found my chicken attacked yesterday evening when I went to lock them up. I have no idea what may have attacked her. All other chickens are fine. Her wounds are extensive. One side of her neck is missing down to the bone. I left her with food and water overnight and have tried dried mealworms, strawberries, and even cat food but she doesn't seem to want to eat. She is having bowel movements and I've seen her drink a little water. I'm having a tough time believing she can regrow all of that skin, but is it possible? Should we put her out of her misery? I have cleaned the area with sterile saline, warm water with hibiclense, and I've used spray foam neosporin and the wound spray on it along with some betadine. I just don't know how effective it will be on such an open wound. Any advice is welcome. I don't want her to suffer, especially if she has no chance of recovery.

I would give her Baby aspirin 81(mg) to reduce pain.Wrap neck in bandage but also get Chicken healing spray at tractor supply to make her neck heal faster and eliminate any bacteria. If she is eating and drinking she should be fine. You can take a syringe and give her drops of vitamin water.

Thank you. Do I need to dilute the baby aspirin in water? I saw her drink a little but she had yet to eat. I have read that water is more important but she does need to eat by tomorrow I'd think.

Dilute the baby aspirin in water and put drops of it in her mouth.Just do it slowly with her head up.Do little at a time probably don't want to drown her.

She did! Now trying to figure out how to reintegrate her into the flock. I tried putting the crate in the run but they got her on the top of her crest so I brought her back in to let that heal.

Keep her in a cage they cant peck through.I would leave her in there with food and water all day and put her on the roost with them at night.
