Salmonella questions?

Well, we vaccinate our kids, don't we? Most of us anyway.. The whole point of those is exposure to make antibodies so we don't get these things and die from them later etc...

Nobody call CPS on me now :p

I have a 3 month old, plus others... I had him out in his bouncy seat about 2 weeks after he was born, and in his playpen for a few afternoons after that. With chicken feathers, turkey poop, duck pools, dogs, cats, cows, a cornfield...you get my drift ;)

That's not saying go smear chicken poo on your baby's hands and let him suck on them, that's just nuts lol, but a wee bit of exposure to these things is actually healthy and IMO, necessary for good immunity building.

I also let my 2 older daughters play with poopy eggs. I am serious, they use them in their playhouse outside to make mud pies with and they gather eggs for me and are always pulling carrots out of the garden where I use most of my chicken poo. Never been sick from it.

They wash their hands. I taught them not to put these things in their mouths, wash the carrots first, all that good stuff. But truth is, I've seen them grab a piece of watermelon after playing with poopy eggs and it didn't phase them one bit.

Farm kids, we have good immunity I guess. I have an idea why ;)

Ok thank you everyone for your replies. i'm going to talk him into building a run in the spring. He is a builder after all and can build a house inside and out so I know he can do it. 2 out of my 3 are laying an egg each now which is great! So he's lost that excuse now that they aren't productive pets lol
