The first of 5 chicks just hatched at 11:15pm.The yolk sac doesn't look like it's been fully absorbed. Will she be ok?

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! I too agree that's it's just hatch gunk and your chick should be fine. It will dry up and fall off naturally. Please don't be tempted to pull at it as this could cause problems with your chicks navel.

Congratulations on your new chick and good luck with the rest of your hatch :D

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!

Welcome!

As you have already received some great advice I just wanted to say congratulations on the hatch and that I hope you enjoy BYC; not only is it overflowing with lots of useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures about chickens, turkeys, duck, quail, Peas and pretty much any other feathered and non feathered friends

Thank you, it ended up just being leftover yolk, started to look like scrambled eggs before it dried up and fell off. Thankfully she doing great and is a feisty little thing!!
