Wellsummers Meyer's Hatchery Egg Color

Hello All,


I was hoping to get pictures of Wellsummer eggs from Meyer's Hatchery birds. Ours are 25 weeks old but haven't started to lay yet so I can't say what they look like yet. However I keep hearing that hatchery wellies don't have the terracotta looking eggs but a more beige brown color. I know that speckled eggs are also a possibility, and would be easy to tell from our other brown egg layers.

I did search for pics but the threads I found were several years old and I know that the hatchery has probably developed their stock since then. Our flock is mixed with two Wellies, a Delaware, a GLW, and a BA so I want to be sure I can tell the eggs apart so I can track appropriately. That way when I get more chickens in the following years I'll know who performed well and who left me wanting.

My 3 Welsummers are from Meyer and are 31 weeks old today, Have not received and egg from any of them yet, they are slow to mature and the weaning daylight has not helped ( I do not use supplemental lighting). They are big, beautiful and vigorous birds, happy with them so far.

I'm also curious about egg color, when mine start up ill post pictures.

I am planning to get a Welsumer. I have a bantam but come to find out their eggs aren't dark either.

Makes me crazy when breeders/hatcheries don't put up pics of their eggs. As far as I am concerned they should also have pics of their parent stock and chicks. I know some do. But when I was looking at hatcheries, I wanna know. Because as far as I am concerned most of their birds do not conform to the SOP and that effects egg color.

Being able to tell eggs apart is something I always recommend as a good idea. It can tell you about their health as well as laying habits.

Hate to wait that long for eggs. That essentially means you don't get many eggs the first year and still have to go through molt on year #2? With it taking that long to mature, probably more affordable to feed and keep them through molt than replacing with chicks.
 
Meyers posts pictures of the eggs but I was hoping for a general consensus of "real eggs" vs picked through for the darkest possible eggs for a photo.... Don't get me wrong I love Meyers Hatchery for their customer service and all six hens we got from them have been healthy and beautiful, but that doesn't mean they won't use marketing tactics.
 




Diego and Garcia are gorgeous and friendly, good foragers, get along with the other pullets and pretty snazzy in general. I just want to know what their eggs are going to look like. Because they're mean to me and haven't started laying yet.....
 
She is a Golden Campine but I didn't list her because she is alr3ady laying, and lays white.

From left to right RIR, Barred Rock, speckled Sussex (quite fitting given the speckles) welsummer and another welsummer or same welsummer?

I'm quite happy with the color.
