Before I buy horizontal nipples, will they/can they be threaded through hardware cloth (or just make a bigger hole in the hardware cloth) and have the watering bucket OUTSIDE the coop and just the nippe INSIDE the coop? Anyone have pictures of this? I have a small coop and looking to save space. Thanks!

Depends on what gauge and size the cloth is. The nipple manufacturer recommended a 3/8" drill bit for drilling the hole to thread the nipple into if that information helps.

I'd say yes, and especially so if you want to open it up a bit. Option B, if freezing is not an issue is to run a section of small PVC pipe through the fence and mount the nipples to the pipe, which is attached to your supply bucket outside the coop. Even if freezing were an issue, you could probably wrap the pipe with heat cable to keep it from freezing.
