Anyone have a Black Mouth Cur?

I have a 13 year old female dog that is half Black Mouth Cur, a quarter Border Collie, and a quarter McNab. Her litter was bred up by a friend who specializes in breeding ranch/farm dogs for his friends. All I'm getting at is her litter was deliberately made, not a chance occurance. Incredable dog. She is our chicken dog. She can protect, and herd them. She would herd chickens right into my husbands hands. If the chickens started fighting among themselves, she will break up the fight by getting in between them. She will look up at Hawks or owls, and follow them from tree to tree. She won't hesitate to do battle with a coon. She will run off coyotes. The black mouth Cur was put into this mix to add courage and ruggedness to the border collie, McNab side. Her father was the Black Mouth Cur. Everyone who got one of these dogs was pretty impressed. Most are being used for cattle work. There was only one who did not cut it as a cattle dog as far as I know.
My dog is my right hand dog. She's getting older now, and I am thinking of possibly getting a full black Mouth Cur to replace her when she is gone. So..there you go. That's my experience with Black Mouth Curs.

My BMC/Aussie Cattle dog cross was an oopsie. I wanted to get a full BMC but couldn't find one around here. I got him as a pup and little knew how he would turn out. He's a handsome boy with cattle dog markings, with a black muzzle and his size from his mom- 96 pounds. He is our chook dog. Whenever they are out in the yard, he is on duty. Can't count how many times he has run foxes off the property. Last summer/fall alone he saved at least two hens - piles of feathers were left but the hens came home to roost. After he chases the fox off, he patrols the fence line for awhile. We had two roosters for a time and just like your gal, he would break up fights between them. We thought he was unique in that. He is a cuddler in the house. He has some faults: jealousy- if we pay too much attention to the cats or other dog, he has to have equal time; and impulsiveness. For instance, once when I was walking him on the leash, he saw another dog and took off after him. I wasn't quick enough to let go of the leash with my desire to try to keep him under control. Anyway, I was yanked to the pavement and broke my leg. His name is Bruiser. He is getting older now, too, and still runs around the property like a maniac but pays for it by limping around afterwards. His legs seem a bit fragile for such a big dog.
