Hi I was just wondering why my leghorn is loosing feathers at her head and at her tail? It's really cold here 0-10 right now so I doubt that she is moulting. She was born in April and the other 7 leghorns that were born with her look great.

I apologize for jumping on this thread, however if anyone could look at the pics of my silkie and give me your opinion. I believe she may be molting, she is about 18-19 months old, so this would be her first molt. Does this look like molting to you? I have not owned chickens long enough to expierence this. If it is molting, great! On the down side, she has once again decided to be broody. I am in the midst of stopping her, because she has already brooded twice this year and if she is indeed molting that's way to hard on her little body.
