ordered chicks today from Ideal :)

I ordered 10 surprise bantams from Ideal. I couldn't wait. I have a chick addiction. I've never had bantams before and I'm so excited !!!

Last year I ordered chicks from cackle and everything was perfect. I did get one roo sneak in the box, but he has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I've been reading the reviews on cackle, and can't believe all the bad reviews! Yikes. glad I ordered before I read them

I will definitely order from cackle again, but decided to give other hatcheries a shot at my investment cash.

Yes, I see all the mixed reviews and I'm giving it a go. They've been in business longer than I've been alive so what the heck?. They can't be horrible.

I'm a bit nervous that it's winter, but the way things work today with shipping, I doubt very much they will ever be exposed to the cold for more than a few seconds. If that. Heated trucks , special precautions, during truck to post office. Not to mention post offices have warm rooms. And last but not least , the human factor. Everybody wants to be careful with chicks. lol

Keep an eye on their feet. We got 9 chicks and 6 ducks from Ideal and they all had bumble foot. When we emailed Ideal that they had bumble foot Ideal said "that's not bumble foot. It's just the bedding" We use pine litter for bedding. Good luck with your chick's just keep an eye on them.

I signed up for their newsletter and the exact same chicks I just ordered just went on sale for $1.25 each. I paid $2.99 each. The only catch was at the sale price I have to order 25 chicks.

I have more than one brooder so I was debating in my head whether to switch my order, or would 25 chicks this time of year push my DH over the edge? I can't resist a good bargain, but 25 chicks??? oh the dilemma.

It would be just $5.00 more for more than twice the chicks....Maybe I would get a bigger selection??? as I sat here pondering, the phone rang and it was Ideal hatchery!!!!

I had filled out my CC info wrong and my card was denied. Well I read him the correct #'s and all was good.
Soooo, I mentioned about the sale and how I was debating calling them and asking if I could switch and he said no problem.

25 mixed bantams coming my way! They are shipping out on the 11th.
Isn't it awesome how things work themselves out.

now how to break the good news to my Hubby? lol

OMG they are so tiny. So cute I can stand it!!!
they shipped 2 extras but they were DOA

But the 25 I ordered are alive and healthy. I dipped their beaks in warm water and they are under the momma heating pad settling down. I'm so happy I ordered bantams. I've never seen anything this tiny that could run around peeping .
I'm hooked lol
