Best time to go to Idaho/out west

Anyone from Idaho or nearby? Thinking about going sometime this year or next and curious best time to go. If I went I'd probably want to go to surrounding states too like Montana and Wyoming and maybe Washington, Oregon, or Colorado. I realize the time to visit might be different for all of those. But I have just always found Idaho gorgeous and want to go. I kind of have it set in my head to visit there but realistically there are probably lots of states that are beautiful. Heck, probably every state in the country has beautiful places. But I love Idaho and the idea and there's something bigger/grander about out west. If you can't tell, I hope to go LOL furthest west I've ever gone is to Pennsylvania visiting family. I've been to Florida and even the Bahamas but never out West. I really want to go out there. Sorry for rambling and please forgive any typos - BYC site tends to cause issues for me already sometimes and on top of that and the biggest factor, it is 5:44am here and I have yet to sleep LOL so yeah, best time to go? Thank you. Also I know I could just Google but figured I'd ask for advice on here first ha

If you haven't seen any parts of the western U.S., you owe it to yourself to visit. Lots of wide open spaces and beautiful landscape plus interesting history.

I'm in south central WY and this time of year is not the time to visit, lol. It's way below just cold and the weather will be pretty wacky until about mid-April to the first part of May. We do have gorgeous summers and fall on through September (some years are different of course). So if you want to do some sightseeing around here, I'd recommend the summer months.

As for the other states you mention, I'll leave that up to the members that live in them.

Thanks so much for the help!! I think I definitely need to plan a trip out there!

I figured some time in summer might be good but I wasn't sure if weather was still bad in spring and you've answered that so thanks.

Do summers get very hot out there?

Also, this is somewhat irrelevant or at least, I guess, probably a completely separate trip, but I've been fascinated by dog sledding lately but I'm assuming that needs to be done in winter? At least true snow sledding not the carts. But weather is still pretty miserable now, right? Maybe I don't want to do that after all haha

I've been wanting to hike more lately so maybe once I get more in shape, I could hike out there some? I'm sure there's probably too many places to list but what are some easier, more scenic trails? Or ones with maybe a lake/river or mountain view?

I'm thinking though besides nature I might wanna do normal scenic touristy stuff but maybe less known or less crowded places
