How do ya'll keep everyone safe if you don't lock them up? mine would all be dead before the week is up here. I trained mine to go in now every brood that hatches here gets trained by the older ones. Ducks herd great.

We have to herd them in at the end of the day, but since they are fed in their pen they aren't "too" resistant. The bigger issue we have is they refuse to go in our large pond, so we have to provide water.. Ever since one of them was taken down by a snapper (that has since been caught) they won't even go near the water. As disappointing as that is, I have to say if I was swimming with friends and one of them was hauled under screaming I wouldn't be going back in the water either.Ha, too cute! I wish mine would use their house
Since you refused to answer my logical questionI bet you know... Since you're my husband!

Since you refused to answer my logical question I'll answer it for you. 19 call ducks and 1 blue Swedish with a leg defect. It is super cool seeing the calls flying by the windows as they fly around the house in the summer.

Sounds like a beautiful flock! Good luck with them
Nice ramp. AND I am In love with your house it is so adorable.. I would rather not feed my flock to preds either. They are just too special. We do lock them up. The house has a fence around it and at night I whistle for them while carrying their food and they come to me and follow me into the fenced in area... Although sometimes I need to gently nudge them in! One they are in that fenced area they can go in the house or stay in their fenced in area. Before we started locking them up at night, we could lose a whole flock in a year! I got tired of raising ducks to feed to coyotes and raccoons! Here is what the side of the house looks like. They look adorable going up and down the ramp!
